WE GOOFED
There, we said it. 
Somehow, it was missed through the many channels of experts (?) we have on staff to check technical and factual items.
In our last issue (September 2010), in our story on Top Alcohol Funny Car racer John Lombardo (Coming Full Circle), we inadvertently mentioned in a photo caption on page 26 of his father, former Funny Car star “Lil” John Lombardo.
The truth is that the photo was not of his father, but instead Ken Smith, who is actually crew chief Bob DeVour’s father-in-law. In fact, it’s Ken who services the right side of the engine, along with keeping charge of the wheels and tires and driving the tow vehicle.
The gentlemen on the right side of the photo is his grandson, Dustin Yoho, who is DeVour’s stepson. Dustin also works on the engine and is actively learning many other areas of the operation.
We recently received these actual photos of "Lil" John Lombardo from his son. "Lil" John made quite a name for himself in the early days of Funny Car racing and it's obvious his son has inherited those competitive juices. 
We’re sorry. We’re sorry. We’re sorry. Please don’t whip us anymore. The experts have been fired and everyone 
else is on report.
