MASGA SUPER GAS SCHEDULE The Mid Atlantic Super Gas Association announced it’s 2010 schedule today. The season will consist of a 5 weekend / 10 race schedule that will start off in New Jersey in June and end in Southern Maryland in late September.
The series will kick off the season on June 5th & 6th at the ever popular Atco Raceway in Southern New Jersey. This will be a great test and tune date for anyone planning on running the 41st annual United Association NHRA SuperNationals at Englishtown, NJ the week following. The next race on the schedule visits Maple Grove Raceway in Reading, Pa on July 10th & 11th. The 9.90 Super Gas guys will get a shot at the newly paved surface of “The Grove” in the mid-summer months as part of the “Super Sportsman Showdown”. The mid-point of the season hits the “The Thrill in the Hills” of Numidia Dragway on July 31st & August 1st. This will be the 4th year that the Diminio Family has welcomed MASGA to their facility in Central Pa. The final 4 races for the Mid Atlantic Super Gas group find themselves going down to Maryland for 2 weekends of racing. The first stop will be at Cecil County Dragway in Rising Sun, Md on August 14th & 15th for the annual “Pig Roast”. This race also falls the week before the NHRA Divisional Race at Cecil County and will be a great test for drivers to get some information for the weekend following. The season closes out at the Maryland International Raceway in Mechanicsville, Md on Sept 25th & 26th. This will be the first visit to Royce Millers beautiful facility down south of Baltimore.
Earl Nichols Jr. of Wilmington, DE driving his Goldman Autorace Specialties (G.A.S.) -prepared 1980 Corvette will try to defend his 2009 MASGA title in 2010. Nichols parlayed 2 wins, one at Atco and the other at Cecil County along with a runner-up at Numidia Dragway into the Championship. If Nichols wants to repeat in 2010 he will need to fend off some tough competition from the 2009 Top 5 of Delaney Richardson, Iggie Boicesco, Lance Kreiger, and George Smith.
